Arthur W. Harrison, Jr., of Waynesboro, VA, left this life on Monday, October 10, at the UVA

Medical Center in Charlottesville, VA at age 83, with loved ones at his side. He was born August

21, 1939, in Roanoke, VA, and was predeceased by his parents, Arthur W. Harrison, Sr. and

Katherine Wilber Harrison, and his brother, John Waller 'Bitsy" Harrison.

Surviving are his wife, Lesley "Daly" Harrison, and sons Arthur W. Harrison Ill (Martha) of

Beaufort, NC and Charles "Kennon" Harrison, Sr. of Powhatan, VA.

Also, stepdaughters Whitney Pultz of Waynesboro, VA, Meghan Coyner (Robert) of Stuarts

Draft, VA; grandchildren Charles "Kennon" Harrison, Jr. (Tracy) of Richmond, VA, Caroline

Harrison of Chapel Hill, NC, Catherine Harrison of Beaufort, NC, Clay and Isaac Coyner of Stuarts

Draft, VA; great grandchildren Charles Kennon Harrison III and James Sanders Harrison of

Richmond VA; and sister-in-law Terry Swain of Onancock, VA. He also leaves behind "Ches", his

loving canine friend.

Arthur grew up in Richmond, VA, and attended Hampden-Sydney College. He moved to

Waynesboro with WT Wells Paving Company as project manager before joining the Barnwell

and Jones Real Estate firm. He retired in 2019 from a successful career in commercial real

estate that spanned nearly 50 years. He was trusted and equally adept at working with local

farmers, international clients, and Fortune 500 companies. His reputation as an ethical

businessperson was most important to him and he was known to always look after everyone's

interests.

Arthur was the preeminent commercial real estate person in the area and instrumental in

working with the City of Waynesboro and Augusta County to develop the Walmart, Martin's,

and Target retail areas at the intersection of Rt. 340 and 1-64, along with the Hershey and

McKee Foods manufacturing plants in the Stuarts Draft area. He also was involved with the

location of Lowe's Home Improvement, the Lew Dewitt Boulevard corridor and the Augusta

Medical Center hospital complex.

In his youth, he was a competitive swimmer at the state level, and an avid tennis player and

golfer in his adult years. His greatest interest, however, was for the great outdoors, and his love

of hunting, fishing, and sailing was evident to all who knew him. He spent many happy hours

with family and friends enjoying the Chesapeake Bay, which was his lifelong passion.

Arthur touched many people in all walks of life and will be greatly missed for his energy and

enthusiasm. A private memorial service will be held on the Northern Neck in the spring.
