It is with profound sadness that the family of Audrey Louise Toft (Beggs), 84, announces her passing. Audrey died peacefully at her home on Friday, January 10th, after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on January 27th, 1940, Audrey is the daughter of the late William Robert Beggs and Francis Beggs (Basczewski). Two sisters and a brother preceded her in death. Audrey graduated from Saint Canice Catholic School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1958. After graduating, she attended and graduated from the Earl Wheeler Finishing School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Audrey moved to Waynesboro in 1961 and has lived there ever since. She is a long-standing member of Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Waynesboro. Audrey received an associate degree in Secretarial Science and a certificate in Clerical studies from Blue Ridge Community College in 1978. After graduation, she worked as the secretary for the personnel manager at Acme Visible Records in Crozet, Virginia. Later on, Audrey was the secretary/receptionist for Doctor Stephen Howlett in Waynesboro for many years. Audrey and her husband enjoyed traveling frequently and visiting family in various states.
Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Daniel I. Toft. Also surviving are two sons: John J. Hill and his wife Bonnie of Charlotte, North Carolina, Todd E. Hill of Charlottesville, Virginia, and stepson Brian P. Toft of Staunton, Virginia. Additionally, there are grandsons: Jonathan M. Hill and his wife Alyssa, Julian D. Hill, Christopher J. Anastasio and his wife Amanda, and Matthew J. Anastasio and his wife Sarah, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Harper Jo Hill, Hayes D. Hill, Avery L. Anastasio, and Landyn J. Anastasio, all of Charlotte, North Carolina. Audrey also leaves behind many nieces and cousins she cared for and loved dearly.
Receiving will be at McDow Funeral Home (1701 W. Main St; Waynesboro) on Monday, January 20th, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
A funeral mass will be at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church (301 Sheppard Ct; Waynesboro) on Tuesday, January 21st, at 11:00 am.
A reception will follow at the church. An interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, with a graveside service in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donors make memorial contributions to Hospice of the Shenandoah in Audrey's name.
