Barbara Ann Thacker Zirkle (82) passed away peacefully Friday, December 24, 2021 surrounded by family at home in Afton.  She was born August 29, 1939 in Amherst, VA to the late Louise (Thompson) and Wade H. Thacker.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by three brothers, Harold E. Thacker, Wade H. Thacker, Jr., and Paul Thacker.

In addition to her husband, Gilmer E. "Bo" Zirkle, of 62 years, she is survived by daughters, Patricia Ann Zirkle and Tammy Lynn Zirkle, both of Afton; siblings Cecil Thacker (Jean) of Piney River, Raymond Thacker (Carolyn) of Covington, and Betty Thacker and Wayne Denton of Lynchburg. She had one foster daughter, Kendal Marie Furrow, and two special people Nikki Haney and Chastity Morgan.

She was a devoted, loving mother, wife, sister, and friend who was loved by many.  Her spare time was devoted to baking, sewing, and most of all playing Bingo.

A memorial service is to be held at a later date. Family will receive family and friends at their home, 94 Windy Acres Drive, Afton, VA.
