Betty Reed Kerby Smiley, 88, formerly of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021 while residing with her son in Chesapeake.

She was born November 13, 1932 in Weyers Cave, VA, a daughter of the late Lloyd Reed and Frances (Rankin) Reed.

She retired from Smith's Transfer in 1987, after many years of service. Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She loved gardening, NASCAR, and UVA sports.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Clarence Kerby, and second husband, Lawrence Smiley; granddaughter, Sarah Smiley; and son-in-law, Rodney Smiley. Surviving are her son, Dennis Kerby and his wife Cathy; daughter, Lori K. Smiley; grandson, Eric Kerby and his wife Lindsay; brother, Ralph Reed; and sisters, Phyllis Fretwell and Katherine Galloway.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 7 ^th in Augusta Memorial Park, officiated by Pastor Mark Reed.
