Brenda Adkins Moats, 68, of Waynesboro, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023 at her home.  Born August 24, 1954, she was the daughter of Gladys Upton and Nelson Gill.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Burman and Emma Adkins; former husband and father of her children, Lee Crawford; grandchildren, Ashley Talley, Lisa Talley, and Ricky Smith Jr.; and siblings, Bertie Adkins, Dougie Adkins, Bobby Adkins, Delsie Brown, Penny Boone, David Gill, Ricky Adkins, Judy Withrow, Jerry Fox, Shirley Charles, and Roy Adkins, Sr..

Brenda is survived by her children, Tonya Crawford-Beverley and husband James of Stuarts Draft, Tina Crawford Wiseman and husband Chris of Greenville, Emma "Janie" Crawford Allen and husband Carl of Waynesboro, and Terry Crawford McAfee of Staunton; granddaughter, Angel Stevens whom she raised as a daughter; sibling Bobbie Cash and nephew Michael Adkins whom she also helped raise; other grandchildren, Christopher "Scott" Talley, David "D.J." Talley, Brittany Belvins, Erica Crawford, Samuel Smith, Christopher Allen, Destiny Wright, and Hunter Baca; siblings, Diana Cyrus, Violet Trail, Sonya Upton, Drema Adkins, Timmy Adkins-all of West Virginia, and Sarah Crawford of Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Brenda joins her beloved dog, Boo Boo.

Brenda retired from Augusta Health as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and also worked as a Medical Office Assistant.  She graduated from Dominion Business School.  She attended Hinton High School.

The family would like to thank Augusta Health doctors, nurses, and Cancer Center as well as the Hospice staff, Carillion physicians and nurses.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 26th, 2023 at 1pm at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, 901 Shenandoah Ave, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
