Carmella Grace
Denisi Liebal
Feb 3, 1934 — May 3, 2026
God handpicked another singing angel to join his heavenly choir. Carmella Grace DeNisi Liebal has earned her rest from a life well lived.
Born in 1934 in Altoona Pa, she enjoyed her large Italian family surrounded always by food, laughter, fun and music. She had a voice like an angel when she sang, and some of our best memories include her serenading all with her 2 sisters.
At 20 years old, she married Charles Joseph Liebal who held her heart and love for 64 years until his passing in 2018. Together they raised a large family of seven kids.
Carmella was a matriarch first and her proudest achievements were her children. Money was tight but love and fun were abundant. She liked to say she wasn't a fan of sewing, but the lovely clothes and doll outfits she produced told a different story.
No one could pack up a Jeep or a camper with food and supplies for all the children like she did. Even if it was just for a weekend trip. She prided herself on serving the best manicottis, meatballs and pizza their friends ever had. There was always a pizza party planned for the Liebal residence.
Carmella was competitive and clever. Just try to beat her at a card game. Her love of Pinochle changed to 500 Rummy later, but not many could beat her at either. And if you did, please do not tell.
After Charlie's passing, she had a difficult time proceeding, but still tried to have fun. No one will forget her dance moves at the weddings nor her singing on trips. She was even competitive at her retirement homes, playing bingo, balloon ball and trivia games with her friends. Even right up to her passing, we could play some music and she still would shake those shoulders to the beat.
Remaining to cherish Carmella's memory are her Children. Diana Hall (Charlie), Susan Dischinger (Bob); David Liebal (Robin); Bonnie Cheely (Earl); Mike Liebal (Mary Ellen); Robin Boston (Scott); Charles Liebal Jr (Lauren); 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Also remaining are her precious siblings: Ron DeNisi (Carol); Janet DeNisi; Helen Liebal; George Liebal (Jeannie) and many sweet nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in passing; Charles Liebal, husband. Perry and Lodi DeNisi, George and Dorothy Liebal, parents; Netty Thompson, Lucille Schultz, Sam DeNisi, Perry DeNisi Jr., Mary Liebal, Patsy Snead, Christine Liebal, siblings; and many extended family and friends.
We would like to thank the loving staff at Summit Square Memory Care and Legacy Hospice, all who helped make Mom's difficult transition to peace easier.
