Carol Campbell
Habel
May 28, 1948 — Feb 18, 2022
Stuarts Draft
Carol C. Habel died peacefully at her home in Stuarts Draft, VA on February 18, at the age of 73 after a long illness. Carol was able to spend as much time as possible with her husband and children before her passing at home. Those that love her are thankful that she got this final wish.
She leaves behind her loving husband Les, her three children Dawn her eldest, Mary Kay her second, and John her youngest, two brothers Bob and Bill, six grandchildren, two beloved dogs and many extended family and friends who all loved her dearly. Their 53td anniversary on March 21 will still be celebrated in Carol's honor in a private memorial celebration from an overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Carol received her BS in Education from Cleveland State University and, for over 30 years, taught K-8 in Ohio, Tennessee, and Florida. Retirement allowed her and Les the freedom to travel on many "grand adventures" explore and learn the foods and culture of over 40 countries — some of them many times.
Their oldest daughter Dawn sent them on their first cruise to Alaska for their 25th anniversary and they have since cruised over three dozen times. Some of her favorite vacations were to Norway, Italy, Prague, Budapest, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and always Alaska!
Foodies by nature and lovers of cultures, Carol and Les and their family enjoyed everything from ballet to musicals to opera and foods of the world. Before moving to the Valley, Carol and Les were members of a gourmet club that met monthly for about 15 years. Carol was always quick with a smile and a laugh. She relished a good joke and her bright, sunny nature will be missed by many especially by Les and her family. We will see you on the other side Sweetheart!
Carol's health has been deteriorating in the past two years and our family would like to express their gratitude for the many doctors, nurses, and caregivers who helped her. Their love and professionalism is greatly appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to:
