Charlotte Marie Perdue Gay, 95 of Crozet passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.

Charlotte was born on November 30, 1926 in Rushville, Illinois to the late Jesse and Hattie Perdue. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Jerry and Bobby Perdue and her husband George Thomas Gay, Jr.

She was married for 73 years and raised three children, Jeannie Gay Mousetis (Mike) of Newport News, Cindy Gay Hartman (Jack) of Roanoke and George Thomas Gay, III (BJ) of Waynesboro. She was loved by her 3 children, 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She thanked God every day that He let her become a mother, a grandmother and a great grandmother.

When she died, she was a member of Mountain Plain Baptist Church in Crozet and had been instrumental in the starting of Jefferson Park Baptist Church in Charlottesville. God, her family and her church were most important to her.

She was an accountant at Albemarle High School in Charlottesville and at the Graham and Rollins Crab House in Hampton, VA.

A private burial service will be held at the Culpeper National Cemetery later. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Samaritan's Purse which was very special to her.
