Clarabell Scott Folks went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at her home in Waynesboro, Virginia at the age of 92.
Clarabell was born October 31, 1927 in Elkins, West Virginia to Maynard G. and Eva Lee Pingley Scott. She was raised by her grandparents, Floyd E. and Lavina Rosencrance Pingley.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Lawrence R. Folks.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Kay Folks Herring.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sister Dolores Scott Sprague of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, daughter, Lynda Folks Davis and her husband Browning of Stuarts Draft; four grandchildren: James L Jay and wife Megan of Roanoke; Kathy Jay Gingerich and husband Derrick of Stuarts Draft; Stephanie Davis and fiancé Ken Herz of Stuarts Draft; Amy Herring Showers and husband Kenton of Waynesboro; as well as five great-grandsons: Cameron Jay, Jayson Gingerich, Ethan Jay, David Showers, and Wyatt Showers; and their beloved dachshund Tippi.
She graduated from Elkins High School in Elkins, West Virginia in 1945 and was employed as a legal secretary for Kump and Nuzum law firm prior to moving to Virginia in 1964. She was a valued member of her community holding various secretarial and volunteer positions including Valley Pastoral Counseling Center, Waynesboro Generals, P. Buckley Moss Society, and Augusta Health. She and her husband enjoyed square dancing and marketing her handmade jewelry at craft shows. She was also an active member of Wayne Hills United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends and visitors at McDow Funeral Home on Friday January 24, 2020 from 6 to 8 pm. A service will be held at McDow Funeral Home on Saturday January 25, 2020 at 12 noon with Pastors Gene and Linda Arey officiating.
Pallbearers will be James Jay, Cameron Jay, Ethan Jay, Kenton Showers and Ken Herz.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP) ℅ Glossbrenner UMC P.O. box 1016 Churchville, VA 24421.
