Clarence Alfred
Kramer, Jr
Mar 23, 1933 — Dec 14, 2022
Staunton
Clarence Alfred Kramer, Jr., who we knew as "Bud", passed away on December 14, 2022, at Shenandoah Nursing Home, Fishersville, Virginia at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his wife, Suzanne Root Kramer, his sister Geraldine, and his parents Clarence Sr. and Alice Kramer.
Bud was born and raised in Kansas City, MO, served in the Marine Corps, and graduated from Harvard University. He met and married Suzanne in Cambridge, MA, where they owned and operated Ferdinand's Restaurant on Harvard Square in the 1960's and 70's. This was a spot beloved by locals and tourists, where Bud's gracious and welcoming personality made everyone feel at home. He was the kindest, gentlest soul you'll ever meet. He loved his dachshunds, movies, and music when he wasn't busy with his restaurants.
Bud is survived by his family-by-marriage, nieces Lynne Mercer Ross and Debbie Mercer Morris, and nephew Scott Mercer, who are deeply grateful to the staff at Shenandoah Nursing Home, Brookdale Senior Living in Staunton, and Brightview Assisted Living in Staunton who cared for him so well since 2013. He will be dearly missed and always remembered by all who knew him.
All services will be private.
