Clifton A. Pugh entered into his heavenly home, surrounded by his family on March 2, 2026. He was born March 25, 1946, in Waynesboro, Virginia, a son of Herbert C. Pugh and Myrtle L. Pugh.

Left to share his memories are his wife of 56 years, Catherine "Cathy" Pugh of Lyndhurst, Virginia; two daughters, Jennifer M. Clarke of Staunton, Virginia, and Christina D. Gutt and her husband, Chris, of Stuarts Draft, Virginia; Grandchildren: Corey Snyder of Waynesboro, Virginia, Derek Snyder of Staunton, Virginia, Ethan Clarke of Staunton, Virginia, Alec Gutt and his wife, Jesse, of Staunton, Virginia, Austin Gutt and his wife Bana of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, and Aric Gutt of Staunton, Virginia. Great grandchildren: Axel, Ryder, Phoenix, and Ridge. He also leaves behind his faithful companion, Boomer.

He will be deeply missed by his two surviving sisters: L. Paige Johnson of Lyndhurst, Virginia, and Evelyn S. Hewitt and her husband Harold of Waynesboro, Virginia. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death and now reunited with his brother, David Pugh, and three sisters: Helen Pugh, Maurice Lucas, and Dorothy Terry; and special brother-in-law Rodney Johnson.

Clifton proudly served in the United States Marines. After honorably completing his service, he went on to build a successful career with Nibco, where his commitment and work ethic left an impression. In addition, he had a lifelong passion for renovation and design. Clifton and his wife, Cathy took pride in bringing out hidden potential to properties and landscaping. Following in his father's footsteps, Clifton had a keen eye for property and horticultural potential and found joy in working with his hands to bring out the best in any project put before him.

Clifton was an active member of Sherando Community Church, formerly known as Sherando United Methodist Church serving as a teacher, a choir member, a cemetery caretaker, a cook for chicken BBQ and a groundskeeper. He gladly served where he was needed.

A service of life will be held on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Sherando Community Church by Pastor Billy Coffey. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., prior to the service with a private burial at the church cemetery. There will be no formal viewing or family night.

In keeping with Clifton's wishes, Active Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to consider a donation to the Sherando Community Church/Cemetery Fund, or the Parkinson's Foundation in memory of Clifton.
