Dale Lee Dodd, Sr., 84, of Afton passed away surrounded by loved ones on June 5th, 2024 at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville.

Dale was born on March 11,1940 in Waynesboro, VA to the late Clark Sr. and Russie Dodd of Afton, Va. He graduated from Nelson County High School in 1958. He worked for DuPont for 32 years and used his experience to teach at Valley Votech for 8 years as a Mechanical Engineer Trainer.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 62 years Carolyn Smallwood Dodd, daughter Tambra Dodd Miller, husband J. P, and granddaughter Kira; son Troy Allen Dodd, wife Melissa, and grandson Carson.

He is preceded in death by son Dale Lee Dodd, Jr. He will also be missed by sister-in-law Betty Sue Dodd, nieces and nephews, and special friends.

Dale was a loving husband, father, and son.  He was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world and he provided them with a wonderful life that included many vacations.

Dale was a lifelong Redskins fan, avid Nascar fan, and loved owning his own fast Chevrolets. He was also a passionate craftsman who could often be found in his workshop making wood carvings.

A visitation will be held at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro on June 9 from 4:00 – 6:00pm. A celebration of life will be held at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, VA on Monday, June 10 at 1:00pm, followed by burial in the Hebron Baptist Church cemetery in Afton, VA.

McDow Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
