Dallas Herrington of Waynesboro, VA, passed away peacefully at the age of 85, on September 17, 2023.  She was surrounded by loving family members.

Born on January 13, 1938 in Washington, DC, she was the seventh of nine children born to the late Glen C. and Maybelle (Maines) Dean. Dallas attended Washington Lee High School where she met John C. Herrington, whom she married at the age of 25.  She worked for the CIA and at the Pentagon in various capacities.  Dallas was beloved as a classy and feisty lady who enjoyed participating in MG car rally races, traveling in the US and abroad, and spending time with friends new and old.

Her greatest joy in life was her family.  She and her siblings were very close, getting together for monthly gatherings, as well as holidays and vacations full of joy, laughter, and great memories.  Dallas is survived by her daughter Kelley and husband Ben Wood, and son Bill and wife Mandy Herrington.  She cherished her grandchildren Gwynne, Audrey, and Jack Wood, and Brandon and Colin Herrington.  She is also survived by her brother Harry Maines.  Dallas was predeceased by her dear husband John.

A memorial service will be held at Main Street United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, VA on October 14, 2023 at 2 pm.
