Daniel "Danny" Ray Carpenter, 65, of Louisa, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2026.

Danny was born on November 6, 1960, in Waynesboro, Virginia. He was the son of Lucy Jenave Carpenter and Clarence Morgan Carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Clarence Carpenter.

Danny found joy in life’s simple moments. Whether floating down the river with a fishing pole in hand, patiently waiting in a tree stand, or winding through the mountain roads on his motorcycle, he found peace outdoors. Highland County, Virginia, held a special place in his heart. He had a deep appreciation for wildlife and spent countless hours observing nature. He enjoyed preserving the beauty of each moment by taking photos along the way. He loved music and could often be found singing along to his favorite tunes. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with those he loved. He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh and enjoyed sharing stories with friends and family.

Danny is survived by his wife, Julie (Sorrells) Carpenter of Waynesboro, Virginia; his daughters, Christi Carpenter of Staunton, Virginia, and Desirea Carpenter of Waynesboro, Virginia; his brother, Melvin Carpenter (Jean) of Florida; his sister, Wanda Slusher (Gary) of Newport News, Virginia; his mother-in-law Jo Ann Sorells of Verona, Virginia; brother-in law, Chris Sorells (Judy) of Verona, Virginia; his sisters-in-law Carmen Crummet (David) of Mount Sidney, Virginia; and Tammy Hanna (Kevin) of Verona, Virginia; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; his companion of eight years, Christine Belt of Louisa, Virginia; Christine's son, Brandon of Louisa, Virginia; and her grandson, Wyatt of Louisa, Virginia, whom Danny loved as his own.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m at McDow funeral home in Waynesboro Virgina. Jeff Painter will be sharing his testimony, and Gary Slusher will be officiating. Following the service, friends and family are invited for a meal at Sunset Park.
