Obituary

David Allen Daughtry, age 71, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. He was born on July 14, 1951. He was the son of the late Thomas and Violet (Small) Daughtry of Crimora, Virginia.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Daughtry. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Susan (Monroe) Daughtry.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary Daughtry. Daughter Christina Schacht and her husband Greg. Daughter Amy Hawpe and her husband Matt. Son Brian Fitzgerald and his wife Cyndi. Son Michael Fitzgerald. His brother Ronnie Daughtry and his wife Linda. Grandson Justin Schacht. Granddaughter Jessica (Fitzgerald) Knott and her husband Kevin. Granddaughter Danielle (Fitzgerald) Poole and her husband Brandon. Granddaughter Emily (Schacht) Shabani and her wife Eranda. Granddaughter Addison Hawpe. Granddaughter Cassidy Hawpe. Grandson Will Hawpe. Great-Grandchild Noelle Faith Poole.
David was a graduate of Wilson Memorial High School. He graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with a four-year degree as a master machinist. He began his career at Hall's Industries. He then worked at Klann, Inc. until partnering with United Tool and Plastic. In 1999, he started his own business, D & D, Inc. His knowledge and ability to help design and develop products for companies extended across the world.

He loved fishing, hunting, gardening, whittling, traveling and spending time with his family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, September 12, 2022 at McDow Funeral Home.

His funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at McDow Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Justin Schacht, Doug Batten, Paul Cox, Kevin Knott, Brandon Poole, Will Hawpe, Dave Simpson and Tim Simpson. Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.

His family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Casey Kerrigan, M.D. and Dr. Nicholas Paphitis, M.D. and his team.
