Debra Susan (Humbertson) Corder, age 64, died on Monday, August 22, 2022 in Staunton, Virginia as a resident of Brightview Assisted Living.  She was born in Lawrence, Kansas on January 24, 1958 to Albert and Esther (Cain) Humbertson and was the oldest of three children.  In 2002, Deb married Michael Charles Corder who passed December 28, 2021.  Their pet family included many beloved cats and dogs.

Deb is survived by her father, Albert Humbertson of Staunton, VA; and sisters Allison Humbertson of Staunton, Va (children Galen/Savannah, Evin/Allison & Mara); and Melinda (David) Fackler of Cocoa, Florida (children Jordan and Brandon).  Deb is preceded in death by her mother, Esther Humbertson; and her husband, Mike Corder.

Deb lived in Columbus, Ohio before relocating to Virginia earlier this year.  Though she graduated from Grandview Heights High School, she also had many friends from her time at Upper Arlington High School.  Deb appreciated art creating her own beautiful pieces from clay to watercolors.  She had a flair for style in how she dressed and decorated her home.  Her career spanned from art to customer support to real estate.  No matter where she traversed, she touched everyone with deep and caring relationships.  Those who knew her, understood there was never a dull moment in her presence.

Deep gratitude goes to her caregivers at Augusta Health & University of Virginia Health, especially to Dr. Turner and staff at Augusta Health Palliative Care and Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah (Heather, Heidi, Debbie, Dennis & Staff) as well as immense support from Joyce and Kathy from Valley Program for Aging Services.  Thanks also goes to Brightview Assisted Living who provided her with the best of care, lots of laughs and interesting conversations.

In lieu of a service, celebrate her life, and for her of love of animals, support your local animal advocacy organization by donating your time, home and/or resources.  That would bring a smile to her face.  Though the world will be a little less vibrant, her light will continue to shine for us -  we love you Deb!
