Obituary

Richard (Dickie) L. Baber, Sr., passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 29,2021 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Baber is preceded in death by his loving wife, Brenda F. Baber along with his Daddy, Walter Baber and step-mother Vida Baber. Mr. Baber is also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Brenda Leavell and Hilda Lam; 3 brothers, Donald (Donnie) Baber, Thomas (Tommy) Baber, and David Baber.

Mr. Baber grew up with 2 cousins who was like a sister and brother to Mr. Baber, Joan Hoover who is deceased and Jerry (Bubba) Terrell who still survives; also preceded in death is Ruby Terrell who raised Donnie, Dickie and Brenda as her own children and loved them dearly. Mr. Baber leaves behind 3 sons and daughter-in-laws, Richard (Ricky) L. Baber, Jr. and wife Joanne, Gary W. Baber and wife Tanya and Robert (Bob) A. Baber and wife Sharon; 7 grandchildren, Daniel T. Baber and future daughter-in-law Amber White, Emily Hartman and husband Matthew Hartman, Michael T. Baber, Leslie Baber, Teagan Baber, Evan A. Baber and Heather N. Baber; sister, Shirley Aredes. Mr. Baber has several great-grandchildren as well as one very, very special great-granddaughter Peyton Faye Hartman who held her papaw Dickie's heart very closely. Mr. Baber had Peyton spoiled rotten and loved her dearly.

Mr. Baber served in the U.S. Army in Korea and was very proud of serving his country. Mr. Baber retired from G.E. (Genicom), and also McKee Foods. Mr. Baber loved going camping and spending time with his family.

The family will receive friends from 4 PM until 6 PM on Sunday, December 5 th at McDow Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 6 th at 12 noon in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home, followed by interment in Riverview Cemetery.
