Love surpasses words as Donald Franklin Ownby leaves his earthly life to meet his Lord. He leaves behind his love of 66 years, Bertie Fridley Ownby. Daughters Glenda M. Ownby, Donna Lawhorne, her husband David, and two grandchildren, Ashley and Trey. He was the son of the late Bernard E. and Agatha Ownby. He was a lifelong resident of Augusta County and graduated from Wilson Memorial and Valley Vo-Tech in 1954. He was a valued mechanic working mostly at Baugher Chevrolet and Smith's Transfer. He was a member of Blue Ridge Chapel COB, where he served as deacon, church board, steward, and honorary member of the women's fellowship. He also served as a Boy Scout leader, Preston Yancey Auxillary, and at Barren Ridge Community Center. His celebration will be held at Blue Ridge Chapel COB on Tuesday August 9 at 12:30pm. Graveside service to follow at Augusta Memorial.
