Doris Claire (Dennehy) Van Bruggen, 100, passed away Saturday April 15, 2023 at Summit Square Retirement Community.

She was born March 15, 1923 in Somerville, MA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (McGrath) Dennehy.

She was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and retired after 35 years with Bell Telephone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andreas H. Van Bruggen; her brother, Joseph Dennehy; and sisters, Helen Price, Elizabeth Downey, Rita White, Louise Poole, and Mae Nolan.

Surviving are her son, Robin H. Van Bruggen and wife Maureen of Berlin, MD; 2 grandchildren, Andrew Van Bruggen and fiancé Krista Naughton of Orlando, FL , and Katherine Van Bruggen of Ocean City, MD; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, April 28, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Francis Xavier Musolooza. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, or the charity of your choice.
