Dorothy "Dot" Vailes White
(February 10, 1936 – November 8, 2022)
Dot Vailes White of Waynesboro, VA passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday November 8, 2022 surrounded by family.
Born in Jackson, TN, Dot received a bachelors degree from Memphis State University and completed graduate work at UVA and James Madison University. She had an esteemed career in real estate in Augusta County for over 40 years. Serving twice as President of Staunton-Augusta Board of Realtors and was instrumental in starting up Spring Lakes in Staunton. She served on numerous community organizations throughout her career, most notably on the Mental Health Association of Augusta serving as President (2 terms), Secretary, and Chair of the golf tournament (20 years). Dot was an Elder and proud member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1971. She was an active athlete and runner her entire life and was the biggest fan of her grandchildren's sports.
Dot is survived by her husband of 28 years, William S. White; children, Janet Vailes, Chuck Vailes (Lisa), Robert Vailes (Terri); stepchildren, Lisa White (Leon), Laura Willis (Kenny), Robbie White, and William S. Jr. White (Erin); and grandchildren, McCauley, Samantha, Stuart, Carter, and Ava Vailes.
A service in memory of Dot will be held Saturday November 19, 2022 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro, VA at 3:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Westminster Presbyterian Church or The Mental Health Association of Augusta.
