Douglas MacArthur Thompson, 83, a resident of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, passed away Sunday February 8, 2026 at his home.
Born May 31, 1942 in Spanishburg, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Greene Thompson and Ruby (Lilly) Thompson.
Doug served his country faithfully with the U.S. Army as an MP officer, and later with the Federal Government. Upon leaving government service hespent 45 years driving for numerous trucking companies across the country. Once retired he found his love in lawncare for friends and neighbors, so long as he could still golf the local courses. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Surviving are his mother, his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Dumuhosky Thompson; daughter, Theresa Lyn Moss; sons, Timothy G.(Heather) Thompson and Thomas G. (Angel) Thompson; grandchildren, Caitlin (Alex) Ward, and Zachary Mullenax; Brandi (Tyler) Michael, Brianna Thompson, Bryson Thompson, great-granddaughter, Adalyn Michael, great-grandsons Liam Michael and the late Kendrick Ward; brothers, Paul Thompson, Larry Keith (Suzie) Thompson, and Billy Joe Thompson; and sister, Laura (Jerry) Bledsoe; numerous nephews and nieces around the country.
A memorial Mass will be held February 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, officiated by Rev. Francis X. Musolooza and Deacon Ed Handel.
The family has asked that memorials be made to Disciples Kitchen to "feed the hungry." PO Box 1762, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
