Ellen Marie Moyer, 95, a native of Waynesboro, Virginia passed away on March 21, 2023.

She was born to the late Virgil Albert and Ruth McCune Moyer, Sr. on January 16, 1928 in Waynesboro, Virginia.

Ellen attended Jackson Wilson School and graduated from Waynesboro High School. After graduation from Marion Junior College and Longwood College she was employed by the Petersburg School system from 1950 – 2010. She was a math teacher and later a payroll specialist. Ellen was an active member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, an international society for women educators. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Parish in Disputanta, Virginia.  She enjoyed watching many sporting events on TV and was an avid University of Virginia fan. Ellen was a very generous individual and helped many people in need.

Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Jimmy Moyer, Reverend Dr. VA Moyer, Jr., Fred Moyer and Joe Moyer; four sisters, Peggy Jones, Agnes Jones, Anne Broyles and Jean Bower; two nephews, Eddie Jones and Mike Jones; niece, Pat Redden; three sister-in-laws, Jackie Moyer, Julie Moyer and Judy Moyer; five brother-in-laws, Gara Broyles, Carl Jones, Bud Knicely, Harry Jones and Jim Brower.

She is survived by brother, Bobby Moyer; sister, Frances Knicely; sister-in-law, Minnie Moyer and many caring nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She had many friends and especially her godchildren, Bee and Morris (Stacey) Betts, children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bates, Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday September 23, 2023 at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waynesboro, Virginia, casual attire.
