Mary Eloise (Hitt) Morris, passed away on November 17, 2021, in Staunton, Virginia. A loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Eloise was an Alexandria, Virginia resident for 53 years. For 52 years, Mrs. Morris and her husband of 62 years, Bruce, lived in their home at 101 Uhler Terrace, Alexandria, of which in the year 2000, the City of Alexandria designated and named it, The Morris House. She was born in Culpepper, VA on September 29, 1919, to the late John Ashby Hitt and Willie Fleetwood (Brown) Hitt. Eloise was the oldest of five siblings and was the oldest of 47 grandchildren. She attended school in Brandy. After moving to Alexandria upon graduation, Eloise was employed 25 years with the C&P Telephone Company (Verizon) of Georgetown in Washington, DC. Upon their retirement at age 50, Eloise and Bruce traveled extensively, however, Eloise loved working in her flower gardens when at home. She was an active member of her church, Del Ray Methodist, in Alexandria, until her move to Waynesboro, Virginia in 1998 upon the illness of her husband, Bruce Brawner Morris, Potentate of Kena Temple and 33 ^rd degree Mason. Eloise was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Alexandria. Both she and her husband were instrumental in supporting the foundation to build and sustain the George Washington Masonic Temple in Alexandria, and also in supporting the Shriner's Crippled Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where they made frequent visits.

Upon moving to Waynesboro, Virginia, she and her husband were residents of Pelham Knolls for ten years. After his death, Eloise became a resident of Summit Square in Waynesboro for eleven years, and for the last three years she resided at The Legacy of North Augusta, Staunton, Virginia, where great care was given to her every need by a very special group of nurses. Also a thank you is extended to the Hospice of The Legacy. Eloise was a member of First Baptist Church in Waynesboro.

She is survived by her only daughter, Dr. Sandra Kay Morris Curry (Tom Montgomery), of Waynesboro, Virginia; two Granddaughters, Amanda Brooks Curry Graziano (John) of Richmond, Virginia, and Rachael Abigail Curry Neckowitz (Aaron) of Staunton, Virginia; four Great Grandchildren, John Brooks Graziano and Wilson Tyler Graziano both of Richmond, Virginia, and Belle Carson Neckowitz and Porter Jacob Neckowitz both of Staunton, Virginia.

Arrangements made by McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Virginia. Inurnment Services will be held at a later date in Alexandria, Virginia, in the historical Ivy Hill Cemetery, and a memorial service conducted by the Reverend Barrett Owen will be held at First Baptist Church,  301 South Wayne Avenue, Waynesboro, Virginia, at 11 AM on Saturday, November 20, 2021. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of First Baptist following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607.
