Florence Virginia Morris, known by most as Virginia, went home to be with the Lord at the age of 80 on May 2nd, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family at the home of her daughter, Cheryl Render.

Born in Baltimore County in 1941, Virginia was the cherished daughter of the late Ernest Monroe Morris and Retha Ellen Herring and stepdaughter of James G. Herring. She lived a life marked by strength, service, and an unwavering faith in Christ.

Virginia served her community faithfully as a school crossing guard, ensuring the safety of countless children over the years.  Virginia and her husband, Earl, always had an open door to family and friends. Whether it was going on a thrift store shopping trip with her daughters or cooking a delicious meal for company at her house, she looked for ways to serve others in any way she could. Virginia was a strong Christian woman whose quick wit and steadfast devotion to her family touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Cheryl Render (and husband Drew Render) and Jennifer Long; her adored grandchildren, Kenneth Parkhurst and his wife Taylor Parkhurst, Joshua Parkhurst and his wife Megan Parkhurst, Danielle Parkhurst, Austin Long and his wife Katie Long, and Hannah Morris; and her five precious great-grandchildren, Hudson, Lewis, Madelyn, Mackenzie, and Kaiden. Virginia is also survived by her siblings, Geneva Shifflett, Maxine Bolyard, and Ernest Morris, along with many brother and sister inlaws, nieces, and nephews whom she held very dear.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl Morris; her son, Danny Morris; and her brother, Curtis Morris.

Throughout her life, Virginia reflected an enduring commitment to her faith and family.  As such, in place of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Virginia's honor to Appalachian Christian School, where three of her grandchildren attended.  Giving Link: https://factsmgtadmin.com/give/appeal/WczmtTVfY

A celebration of Virginia's life will be held on Wednesday, May 7th, 2025 at 11:00 am at Appalachian Christian School Chapel, located at 300 Maple Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing beginning at 10:00 am, providing an opportunity to pay their respects and offer support to the family. The service will be a time of remembrance and worship, honoring the life and legacy she leaves behind. Following the service, a meal will be served at Commonwealth Christian Community church, located at 140 Patterson Mill Lane, Crozet, VA 22932. A private graveside service for the immediate family will follow.
