Gary Wayne Fry

Gary Wayne Fry, 79, of Waynesboro, Va. passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2026.

Born on November 2, 1946 in Lexington, Va. Gary lived a life of devotion, kindness, and humor. He was known for his dedication to his parents, Russell Lee Fry of Churchville,, VA and Hildreth Doyle Fry of Lofton,, VA.

Gary was drafted into the United States Army directly following High School graduation, serving in Vietnam in the 36th infantry for two tours, receiving various medals. He received an honorable discharge on March 1, 1970.

Following his military career, he was employed by DuPont de Nemours for 28 years.

Outside of work, he lived life to its fullest, enjoying the outdoors, fishing and hunting. His biggest passion was riding his motorcycle and being a part of the brotherhood. "Doc" touched many lives and will be deeply missed..

He is survived by his loving wife Leslie with whom he spent the last twenty three years. His son Preston Fry of Crimora, two step-sons David Meadows and wife Ashleigh of Staunton, VA, and Jacob Meadows of Harrisonburg. Grandchildren include Brandon Brinkley of Waynesboro, Allison Fry of Sherando, Jared Stokes of Grottoes, and Rowan Meadows of Staunton and his loving Cousin Marie West of Gloucester, VA.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday June 20, 2026 at the McDow Funeral Home Chapel. Officiated by Pastor William Hatter. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be by members of the U.S. Army.

May Doc's memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him and to know he is now joined with all his dogs waiting for him across that rainbow bridge.
