Gary Raymond Houghtaling, Sr., 78, a longtime resident of Waynesboro, VA, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday April 21, 2021 at Augusta Health.

A son of the late Raymond M. Houghtaling and Blanche (Jones) Houghtaling, he was born October 4, 1942 in New York.

He was retired as owner and operator of Gary's Transmission. He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church since 1986 with his friend, Pastor Jerry Cline.

In  addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mike Price; and brother, Raymond Jones.

Surviving are his "wife", Linda Fisher; sons, Matthew M. Houghtaling and his wife Megan of Crimora, Gary R. Houghtaling, Jr. and his wife Tonya of Churchville, Warren S. Bunch of Crimora, Rodney Houghtaling and his wife Sarah of Verona, Terry Price, Mark Price, and Jeff Price; daughters, Naomi Houghtaling and Lionel of Harrisonburg, and Sandra Dove; grandchildren, James, William, Robert, and Thomas Smith, Eli, Colt, Koda Houghtaling, Jessica, Kimi, Chris, Danielle, and Zack Bunch; and great-grandchildren, Nate, Liliana, Clayden, Anora, Amya, Kianna, Jaden, Sadie, Phoebe, Kayleigh, Louie, T.J., Chase, and Bailey. He is also survived by sisters; Joyce, Debbie, Gale, Patty ,Peggy, and brothers; Sandy, Roy and EJ.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, April 26 ^th at Wayside Baptist Church. A service will be held at the church on Tuesday, April 27 ^th at 10:00 AM, officiated by Pastors Larry Johnson and Jerry Cline. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be James, William, Robert, and Thomas Smith, Jody Yount, and Lionel Strother.
