Obituary

Gary Lewis Kessler of Waynesboro went to be with the Lord, Friday, April 3, 2020, in his home.

He was born on May 24, 1955, in East Stroudsburg, PA, son of the late Lewis R. and Joan (Beers) Kessler.

He was a 1977 graduate of Lafayette College in Easton, PA.  After college, he entered the U.S. Marine Corps and served for 23 years as a fighter pilot, a reservist, and was a veteran of Desert Storm before retiring as a Major.

A beloved teacher and coach, Gary taught Mathematics and Physics for more than 30 years at Fishburne Military School and in Augusta County Public Schools, mainly at Wilson Memorial High School.  He coached Football, Wrestling, and was passionate about Cross Country and Track and Field, leading teams to numerous District, Regional, and State championships throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters Rebecca Kessler and Judith Neff.

Gary is survived by his wife, the love of his life for 40 years, Angelica (Angie) Garcia Kessler, his daughter, Andrea Marie Babral and her husband Jason, his precious granddaughter, Gabriella Garcia (G.G.), all of Fishersville, his son, Parker Lewis and his wife Karen of Greenville, a sister, Cynthia J. Kessler of Bangor, PA, a brother, Jeffery P. Kessler (Melinda) of Jonas, PA, sisters-in-law, Ada G. Cullum, Alicia Garcia, and Anita Bodine (Brian), all of Corpus Christi, TX, brothers-in-law Alfonso Garcia (Gloria) of Houston, TX and Alfredo Garica of KY, and many loving nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 PM on August 11, 2020, at Coyner Springs Park in Waynesboro.  Bring your own chairs or blankets and your favorite stories to share.

A private Funeral Mass will be at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro.
