Gary Alan Layne, 79, a resident of Waynesboro, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2025 at Monroe Health & Rehabilitation in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was born September 15, 1945, a son of the late Homer Layne, Sr. and Evangeline (Brower) Layne.

He was retired from DuPont with 35 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula C. Watkins.

Surviving are his wife, Vicky L. Layne; daughter, Pamela R. Layne; brother, Homer L. Layne, Jr.; granddaughters, Lora Via and Dorothy Via; grandson, Josh Via; great-granddaughters, Emily Bowling and Evelyn Braddock; great-grandsons, James "Buddy" Bowling, Jr. and Toby Gau.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, September 2, 2025 in Augusta Memorial Park.
