George Melvin Sanderson, 62, passed away Sunday May 10th after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded with love.
He was born August 15, 1957 in Rockbridge County. The son of the late Elwood Mc Sanderson, Sr. & Doshie (Banks) Sanderson.

He had a career as a truck driver for many years. And retired from IDM Trucking shortly after his diagnosis.

He loved to work on vehicles & small engines. Attending truck and tractor pulls & car and truck shows. And trips to his home place. He loved his family and friends. And to know him was to love him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Silas & Edna Sanderson. His brother, Elwood Mc Sanderson, Jr. And his beloved pets Snowball & Buttons.

Surviving him are the love of his of 33 years, Kathy Dale. Daughters, Candy Calloway (Staunton), Tonya Smith & husband Chris (Virginia Beach), and Peggy Hoover & husband David (Staunton). Grandchildren, Cedric Jones, Kelsey Hoover, Dakota (Cody) Davis, Richard Davis ll. Also surviving are his sisters, Nancy S Herring (Columbia, SC) & Susie Ransome-Durrette (Staunton, VA). And numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, & extended family.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Shenandoah for their amazing care. And also Dr. Raybon & his staff at Augusta Health.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
