Hazel Adcock Johnson, 88, a resident of Waynesboro, VA passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at Augusta Health.

She was born September 27, 1938, daughter of William Rhodes and Cristine Carver Rhodes.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Rodney Lee Adcock and Gary Adcock; sisters, Barbara Wood, Lucy Rhodes, and Alice Staples.

Hazel is survived by daughters, Pamela Campbell (Ronnie) and Brenda St. Onge (Kenny); sons, Stanley Adcock, David Adcock, and Todd Johnson (Carole); 11 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great grandchildren; and step-daughters, Theresa Layne and Tracey Fulton.

Hazel worked for Con Agra for 39 years and the News Virginian for 2 years.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Hazel’s neighbors, Dan, Frank, Karen, Sherry, and Todd.

The family will receive friends at McDow Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 pm in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home. Pastor Stephen Henderson will be officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brook Wood, Todd Via, Matt Cox, Jayden Tolley, Timmy Adcock, William Adcock, and Robbie Campbell.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
