Howard Lee May, 80, passed away Monday December 12, 2022 at his residence in Staunton.

He was born to the late Howard Roland and Mamey Pearl (Simmons) May on October 21, 1942 in Marlington, West Virginia.

Howard retired from HRRSA in 2011 and he was an avid Atlanta Braves fan.

Howard is preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Shifflett May; brother, Harold May.

He is survived by a son Jeffery May (Heather) of Stuarts Draft; daughter, Tonya Hodge (Claude) of Waynesboro; five grandchildren Marcus, Blake and Samantha Hodge, Jack and Hadley May; two brothers, Roger May and Johnny May; four sisters, Betty Anderson, Shelby Kiser (Leroy), Sharon Neff, Wanda Gentry (Marvin); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Several close friends Marc Lewin, Joe Shifflette, Gail Gregory and Harvey Morris. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. Paw Paw will always hold a special place in their hearts.

Active Pallbearers will be Jack May, Marcus Hodge, Blake Hodge, Michael Shifflett, Michael May and Brandon May.

The family will receive friends Monday December 19, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at McDow Funeral Home.

A funeral Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday December 20, 2022 at McDow Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Pastor Joe Arbaugh.  Burial will be at Augusta Memorial Gardens following the service.
