Obituary

Irene Aleschus Reiss, 92, a resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Sunday September 27, 2020 at home.

A daughter of the late John and Irene Walker Aleschus, she was born March 7, 1928 in Jackson Heights, NY.

Before moving to the Waynesboro area in 1968, she worked for the North Babylon Public Schools, NY as a Junior High School Secretary. She retired in 1991 from the Augusta County School Board in Virginia, where she had been a Department Secretary for 22 years. She lived at Valentines, VA at Lake Gaston during her early retirement before returning back to Augusta Co., VA

Mrs. Reiss was a longtime active member of Zion Lutheran Church. She also spent time more recently as a regular volunteer in the archives of the Waynesboro Heritage Foundation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Forest Reiss; and son, Thomas Donald Reiss.

Surviving are her daughters, Donna Susan Weber and husband John Weber, Karen Louise Church and husband Gary Church; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Dulcey Holmes Fuqua and husband Dave Fuqua, Ryan Weber and wife Karla and son Marcus & daughter Clarisse, Keira Weber Gabrelli and husband Vitor Gabrelli and sons Luca & Mateo, Christopher Church-DiCiccio and wife Kris and son Nicolas & daughter Rosalind, Troy Weber, and Kaitlyn Weber.

There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home. Burial will be private at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery officiated by Pastor Wesley Smith. In lieu of flowers, please donate in her name to the Zion Lutheran Church Memorial fund, 297 Zion Church Rd., Waynesboro, VA, 22980.
