Aug 8, 1947 — Feb 3, 2026
Waynesboro
James Rick Bullion was born on August 8, 1947, in Takoma Park, MD to parents James Mix Bullion and Gladys Dickson Bullion. He passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026, in Waynesboro, VA surrounded by loving family.
Rick was loved and respected by his friends and family. Most often, those who met him through his education journey or throughout his career became friends for life. Betty wants to thank all of you for the friendship you shared with "my best friend and the love of my life."
Rick's education journey carried him from Shenandoah Valley Academy, New Market, VA graduating in 1965. He continued on to Columbia Union College, Takoma Park, MD and concluding in Loma Linda, CA where he focused his studies on physical therapy. He graduated from Loma Linda University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Physical Therapy. Rick never seemed to grow tired of this career choice. Those who knew him well were never lacking in physical therapy coaching. He always strived to keep everyone moving and active to their maximum abilities. For 47 years, you could say, he absolutely loved his work.
Rick is survived by his wife, Betty A Garey of Waynesboro, VA.; two sons, Michael Bullion and wife, Jordan, and their sons James and Miles. Gregory Bullion and wife, Jennifer, and their children Pearl, Talitha, and Abel Bullion. Two step-sons, Stephen Garey and daughter-in-law, Charity, and their children, Savannah (husband, Pablo Lemus), Abigail (husband, Trenton Hartung), Jacob and Macee Garey. Jason Garey and daughter-in-law, Misha, and their daughter River Garey. His sister, Pamela Kilby (husband, Michael), and their children Katelyn and Sean Kilby. Not to understate the close bond he had with his extended family.
Rick touched our lives and our hearts in a special way. He will be greatly missed. You fought valiantly for life. Now, rest in peace.
