James Forrest "Chip" Slosson II, 63, a resident of Afton, VA, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at Augusta Health.
He was born September 1, 1959 in Waynesboro, VA, son of the late James Forrest Slosson I and Lelia Elizabeth (Campbell) Slosson.
He worked in his dad's construction company as a commercial builder. He also worked for Blue Ridge Building Supplies in Crozet and retired from DuPont in Waynesboro. He also served as a volunteer officer with the Waynesboro Police Department for a few years.
Chip had a love for many things including John Deere tractors, water skiing, racquetball, nature, going to the movies, and playing pranks. His free time was often spent working out at the gym.
Surviving are his daughter, Brooke Elizabeth Slosson (Manh Vu); grandchildren, Elizabeth Livingston and James Slosson; sisters, Patti Slosson Moon (Richard), Penny Horner (Wayne Watts), and Pam Harvey (Kenny Clatterbuck).
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 PM Friday, February 10, 2023 at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM following visitation in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home, with interment afterwards at Hebron Baptist Church Cemetery, Afton.
Pallbearers will be Manh Vu, William Freeman, Richard Moon, Kevin Benson, Wayne Watts, and Chris Harvey.
Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Wildlife Center of Virginia, 1800 S. Delphine Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
