Norma Jean Thompson Roland passed away peacefully on June 2, 2023, after bringing her ever present smile and joy to those around her for 95 years.  She was born in Carlisle, WV on January 23, 1928.  She was married to Clyde Roland on June 11, 1947, and they were together for 56 years before his passing in 2003.  After Jean retired from AT&T, she and Clyde moved from Alexandria to Waynesboro in 1984.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, John Masterson Thompson and Daisy Mae Moran Thompson, her siblings, Delbert Thompson, Bessie Toney, Anna Broyles, and Robin Campbell.

She will be deeply missed by Donna Webb, Crystal Cosby (Ray), Chris Webb (Debra), Louann and Sarah Broyles, Bill Cheeks and numerous great nieces, great nephews, great, great nieces, and great, great nephews.

Jean also leaves behind her extended family; the Hausraths: Kyle, Bill, Alex (Anne), Sandy, Bary (Cameron), and Coby in addition to her loving friend, Cindy Steed.  Deep thanks over the last years also go to Katharina Morrissey, Charity and Samantha Steed, and Olivia Valles who were her very devoted caregivers.  Jean was so grateful to be able to live in her home with their help!

She was a member of Glovier Memorial United Methodist Church.

At her request there were no formal services here in Waynesboro.  She was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
