Jeanne Pence Lackey, 98, passed away Sunday July 7, 2024 at her home.

She was born August 30, 1925 in Waynesboro, a daughter of the late John Moses and the late Jeanette (McCann) Pence. Her husband Percy Stuart Lackey preceded her in death as did her sister Joanne Pence Fox.

Jeanne and Percy were married on November 10, 1946. Jeanne was a devoted wife and supported Percy in all his endeavors until his death in 2004. They built one of the first homes in the Westover Hills neighborhood of Waynesboro and she was able to live there until her death. After Percy's death Jeanne found numerous ways to keep busy. She loved bird watching, gardening, puzzles, crocheting, playing the organ and reading. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Jeanne is survived by many nieces and nephews. The family is extremely grateful to her caregivers for their devotion to Jeanne.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday July 19, 2024 at Augusta Memorial Park officiated by Pastor April Cranford.
