Jerry William Ball, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 31, 2025. Born on September 11, 1943, he was the son of the late Roy William Ball, and the late Annie Marie (Blazer) Ball of Asheville, NC. Jerry was proceeded in death by his father, Roy William Ball, his mother, Annie Marie (Blazer) Ball, his sister, Doris (Capps) Templeton, brother-in-law, Don Capps, brother-in-law, Jerry Southerland, best friend, Carl Stinnett, and his stepdaughter, Terri Lynn (Pickett) Jenkins.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ernestine Elizabeth (Lacy) Ball, stepson, James
Timothy (Tim) Pickett (Dianna Pickett), stepson-in-law, Robert (Bob) Jenkins, daughters,
Melissa Dawn (Ball) Dinges, Valerie Renee Ball (Chad Wilfong), Vanessa Ann (Ball) Morris,
grandchildren, Tiffany Jenkins, Danielle Elizabeth Pickett, Robert Lacy Wilbur (Kim Wilbur),
Aaron Timothy Pickett, Amy Lambert Jenkins, Heather Christann Morris, Brandon Christopher
Morris, Gregory Bartlett (Elizabeth Bartlett), Lillian Grace (Wilfong) Biggs (Jordan Biggs), and
Nathaniel Evans Wilfong, great-grandchildren Christopher James Preston Sanzone, Emily Grace
Trippeer, Cassidy Trippeer, Madison Trippeer, Mason Lewis Wilbur, Hailey Lynn Wilbur, Haden
Miles Wilbur, Greer Bartlett, Ensley Bartlett, Leia Ruth Biggs, Emmett Wayne Allhiser, and Ella
Rose Biggs, and his sisters, Sandra (Ball) Lee (Matt Lee) of Wilmington, Delaware, and Brenda
(Ball) Southerland of Tooele, Utah, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jerry attended Irwin High School in Asheville, NC. He took several classes in drafting at Valley Vo-Tech Career and Technical Education Center. He moved from Lexington, VA to Alexandria, VA with Lewis Construction and then relocated back to this area and settled in Waynesboro, VA in October 1969. Several years later he transitioned his career choice to Flowers Baking Company where he retired in October 2005 with over 25 years of service. After retirement, he worked on some lawn mowers and weed eaters to fix in his leisure.

Jerry loved the Lord and spent his entire life understanding that the Lord is always with you and never leaves you. He was always willing to utilize his knowledge to help anyone out. This extended from pouring concrete for them, helping them work on their vehicles, playing with remote control airplanes, trucks, or cars, snow blowing the entire neighborhood roads and driveways when a deep snow hit the area, fishing on the riverside or from his boat, home repairs, building anything and everything, and could fix anything that you placed in front of him. He had a passion for fishing, motorcycles, and remote-control airplanes (his favorite), trucks, and cars.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of Medi Home Hospice for their excellent care given to our dad during his time under their care with special thanks to Wanda Shifflett and Amber Hall, to Loreal Montgomery with Shenandoah Hospice of Augusta while under her care, the entire staff at McDow Funeral Home with their excellent care given to our dad and the family after his passing, and to Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church and Pastor Paul LaPrevotte for their excellent care given to the family and arrangements for the service after his passing.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church (901 Shenandoah Avenue, Waynesboro, VA 22980).
