Jerry Douglas Parr passed away peacefully Sunday February 1, 2026 surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born on October 26th, 1950 to Susie Margaret Parr of Waynesboro, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his mother and a brother Wade Isaac Parr.

Jerry never met a stranger and would talk to anyone whether he knew them or not as a friend. He was an avid reader who loved history. Jerry was an enthusiastic pet lover who cared deeply for any dog or cat that he came in contact with.

Jerry loved spending time working on projects and fixing things for anyone who needed help. He could do carpentry, plumbing or anything that needed doing from building a shop, laying brick, electrical work, painting, working on cars or fixing electronics. He was ready and willing to help his friends and family on a moment's notice or when they called.

His friends and family admired his patience, his wonderful sense of humor and thoughtfulness, positive approach to life and treated everyone with kindness and grace.

Jerry served as a medic in Vietnam and received a Bronze Star for Valor saving his fellow soldiers. He spent most of his working career for GE/Genicom and Northrop Grumman where he retired. He later went to JMU and received his bachelor's degree in business just for fun.

Surviving family includes his wife of 53 years Linda; two sons, Jerry Parr and his wife Andi and Jeff Parr; two sisters, Ginny Adkins and Marie Sue Clowers; granddaughter, Mikhela.

A funeral Service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday February 11, 2026 at McDow Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Tim Bohlman. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
