Joan Gail Campbell Smith, 74, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, September 28, 2021.  Born in Waynesboro, VA on June 28, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Theodore R. and Mabel East Campbell.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Gail Smith; and siblings, Louise Richardson, Hazel Dooms, Robert Campbell, Judy Copper, Ray Campbell, and Donnie Campbell.

Joan is survived by her husband of 55 years, William M. Smith; her daughter, Leslie Bretches and her husband, Chris; grandchildren, Brendan Weeks and Carter Bretches; brother, Ted Campbell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.

Joan was a graduate of Waynesboro High School, class of 1966.  She loved going to church and reading her bible.  She wrote many gospel songs and loved listening to gospel music.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro, VA.  Pastor Jerry Steele will be officiating.
