Joe Thomas "Tommy" Moomau, Jr., 74, formerly of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Saturday January 16, 2021 at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center in Richmond.

A son of the late Joe Thomas Moomau, Sr. and Dorothy (Ramsey) Moomau, he was born August 1, 1946 in Staunton, VA.

Growing up, he was a member of Harriston United Methodist Church. The members there always remembered him through cards and letters while a resident at Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center. Tommy was a 1974 graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He served his country faithfully with the U.S. Army in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star and attaining the rank of Captain.

Tommy retired from NIBCO as a security guard, where he worked for many years.

He is survived by his sister, Debra M. Cassidy and husband M.D. "Spike"  Cassidy                     of Chesterfield, VA, as well as several cousins to include John A. and Mary Ann Marks of Madison Heights.

A graveside service will be held Thursday January 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Augusta Memorial Park.
