John Apesa, Jr.

John Apesa, Jr. 53 passed away on Wednesday August 12, 2026.

He was born February 12, 1973, in Brooklyn, New York to John Apesa and Jeanette (Trombetta) Gunther.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents James and Jennie Trombetta, Frank and Margie Apesa, and his stepfather, William Gunther.

His surviving family is his father, John & Mary Ann Apesa; mother Jeanette Gunther; two brothers Frank & Jennifer Apesa and Vincent & Melanie Apesa; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and dear friend Maryellen Elliot.

John had a love for animals and nature, with a specific affection for golden retrievers. He enjoyed watching and reading sci-fi and fantasy. John loved his family and was known to be “tough on the outside and soft on the inside”. John loved brothers, he was known to fiercely protect them, while regularly reminding them he was the older, stronger brother.

As Mass of Christian Burial will be held on August 28th at 11AM at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church located at: 301 Sheppard Court, Waynesboro, VA 22980.
