John Arthur Mejia Sr., 69 of Grottoes, passed away Thursday, August 19, 2021 with loving family at his side.

John served in the United States Army National Guard and held the rank of Sergeant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ysabel and Edna (Munroe) Mejia; brother, Dana; sister, Karen Engebretson.

Surviving are his children; Beloved father to John Jr. of Florida, Brian and Ben of Massachusetts, Matthew and his wife Dayna of Pennsylvania, Ashley and her fiancé Brandon Penn of Pennsylvania.

Beloved brother to; Lauren Bell and husband Wilbert Jr. of Arizona. Richard Mejia and partner Peggy Connolly of Massachusetts, Joan Mejia and husband Kevin Merchant of California, Ernest Mejia and wife Candice of Florida, and Jeff Mejia and wife Colleen of Massachusetts.

Beloved grandpa to 8 grandchildren; Brena, Mary, Abby, Madison, Xander, Isabella, Colton and Arya who were his pride and joy.

John will be missed by so many especially his cousin and travel buddy Juana Mejia. His cousin Rose Stevens, his Aunts, Joyce, Phyllis, Patty and Uncles, Juan Jr., and Paul along with many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Thursday August 26, 2021 at McDow Funeral Home officiated by Pastor Kyle Byrd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow at Augusta Memorial Park.
