Joseph C. Brown, Jr., age 76, passed away into God's hands on Friday, April 26, 2024. Born November 6, 1947, he was the son of the late Joseph C. Brown, Sr. and Anne Stassinos Brown of Virginia Beach, VA.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Brown and Ronald Brown.

Joe is survived by his loving wife, Martha Brown; brother, David Brown and his wife, Rosemary and their children, Lauren, David, and Nicholas; and sister-in-law, Jacquelina Brown  and her grandchildren, Michael and Briannah.

Joe was a people person.  He never met a stranger.  He loved riding his bike and he would often ride it to the Virginia Beach oceanfront, stopping and making new friends along the way.  He enjoyed reminiscing about the old days and how he started his businesses, especially how much he loved working in auto sales.  From humble beginnings, he grew Beach Building Corporation.  He won awards for the largest independent car dealership on the East coast.  Early on in his life, horses captured his interests and his heart which led him to buy Brown Meadow Farm where he raised Quarter horses.  Even now, he still proudly displays the blue ribbon for the state champion, his strawberry roan.

He enjoyed fishing trips with his dad, Senior, to the Keys and spent many hours sharing stories of their times together.  He later earned his captain's license and purchased his own boat for cruising along the coast.  He loved his time with his dedicated, loving wife by his side.  She encouraged him to keep pressing on.

Joe was "daddy" to many golden fur babies and he loved trips to Wintergreen to the chalet he and his brother, Ronnie, had built in 1977.  He spent his latter years, before his health declined, taking Katly to the overlooks and picking up rocks to make his famous rock retaining wall at the entrance of his driveway.  Even when he was weakened by cancer, he continued collecting rocks and proudly adding to the height of the wall.  He did not know the most recent trip to Wintergreen would be his last.

Joe died peacefully in his sleep in one of his most favorite places on earth.  His time on earth was larger than life and he was grateful for all the blessings that God bestowed upon him.

Husband to Martha, dear to his family, and a friend to all; he will be greatly missed.
