Obituary

Judith "Judy" Marie Truslow, a resident of Beech Grove, died at home on Thursday, September 28, 2023 after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.

She was born on September 26, 1952 in Lexington, Virginia to the late Saylor and Virginia Harris Allen.

Judy is survived by her partner of many years, William "Billy" Parrish, her son William Franklin "Frankie" Truslow, and his wife Tammy, her much loved grandchildren, Brianna "Bri"Stinnett, Derek (Brooke) Stinnett, Kasey Truslow and Ella Truslow as well as her sister Jane Gunter (Jimmy), 2 nieces Anne and Dawn Renee Morris, and 3 nephews, Micky Fitzgerald, David Campbell and Steven Fitzgerald. She also leaves behind her son-in-law Donnie Falls, close friend, Barbara Frazier, honorary "father- in-law", Mac Parrish, special cousin, Faye Humphries and special sister-in-law Dottie Truslow.  Judy had many friends, past coworkers, and cousins she enjoyed spending time with as well.

In addition to her parents, Judy was preceded in death by two of her sisters, Jacqueline "Jackie" Maria Fitzgerald and Margaret Ann "Joan" Allen. and painfully, earlier this year by her daughter, Tracy Falls. She was also preceded in death by a special cousin, Doris "Dorisy" Hendricks Stevens and honorary "mother-in-law" Betty Parrish.

A voracious reader, Judy was able to go through a book in a few days. She loved a good British murder mystery television show and was hard to beat at Jeopardy.  Judy loved being home with Billy as much as she loved to visit the homes of her extended family.  Judy had a particular fondness for traveling to Tennessee and Florida to visit friends and family as often as possible.  She also enjoyed taking a Caribbean cruise with her sister, Jane, whenever she could.  Judy made the best sweet tea and no-bake cookies.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt appreciation for the care given to Judy by her healthcare team, especially Dr. Stephen Schmitz, Dr. Jeffrey Prichard and the Sentara Martha Jefferson Oncology staff. They were in awe of Judy's strength and determination to survive because she never gave up the fight and never complained.

A Celebration of Life will be held 3:00 pm Sunday October 15, 2023 at McDow Funeral Home. The family will receive friends an hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, Judy would want everyone to spend the precious time we have with your family and friends and to do the things that make you happy.

Judy was truly a force of nature and will be greatly missed by many people.
