Chapman Kemper Loyd, 66, a resident of Steeles Tavern, VA, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Augusta Health.

He was born September 12, 1957 in Waynesboro, VA, son of the late Samuel Aston "Ackie" Loyd, Jr. and Ida Elizabeth "Betty" (Vaught) Loyd.

He was a retired Environmental Engineer. Throughout his life, Kemper enjoyed beekeeping, boating, canoeing, fishing, hunting, backpacking, camping, spelunking, traveling and gardening.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Aston "Ackie" Loyd, Jr. and Ida Elizabeth "Betty" (Vaught) Loyd.

Surviving are his loving wife and companion of 37 years, Sharon Loyd; step-children and their families, Bill Brannock and Vicky Cook; sister, Carol Childress and her husband Frank; nephew, Kevin Childress; and niece, Katie Childress.

A celebration of Kemper's life will take place at 1:00 PM Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Randy Lohr. To honor him, please dress casually and wear a tie-dye shirt.
