Linda Jean Horton, surrounded by family, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 9th, 2026 at 10:30 a.m.

Born to Leonard and Bonnie McCrary in Big Springs, Texas on December 11, 1944.  Linda met her husband, Kenneth Horton, in the summer of 1964 and they were married on September 12, 1964. They have three daughters: Becky Kearney, Dana Mares, and Lesley Ludemann, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Linda thoroughly enjoyed singing, especially singing worship songs in Church.  She also loved lively card games, sewing, camping and spending time with her family and friends.  She had an unwavering faith in God which she shared with all those she encountered and would often say when talking about heaven  "I know where I'm going, do you?". Linda worked at several different jobs, many of them as a receptionist. Her favorite ones were working at Collins Radio in Garland, Texas and for a Sheriff's Department in Greenville, Texas.

Survived by her husband Kenneth; three daughters, Becky (Don Kearney), Dana (Scott Mares) and Lesley (Keith Ludemann);  grandchildren, Charisse (Dustin Eby) Rachel (Eni Kassim), Lindsey (Omran El-Khatib), Victoria (Jason Baird), Thomas Mares (Cheyenne), Madison, Emily (Noah Schoonover), Theresa, Lily, and her 12 great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Frank Horton (Ellen); sister in law, Gwin and a host of nieces and nephews in Texas.

Preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Bonnie McCrary, 3 brothers (Alvin JD, Edmond and Sammy McCrary); sister, Faye Spencer.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday April 13th at 12:00pm at Crossroads Baptist Church, 31 Cross Roads Lane, Fishersville, VA.  22939

A lunch reception to follow at The Point Church Event Space from 1:00pm - 2:30pm. at 307 W Main St., Waynesboro, VA 22980
