Louis Leon Henderson, 83 of Crimora, Virginia passed away on March 2, 2026 at Brookdale Senior Living in Staunton, Virginia.
He was born on May 18, 1942 in Augusta County, Virginia and was the son of Louis Lover and Martha (Bellamy) Henderson.
He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School, Class of 1959 in Fishersville, Virginia. He served four years in the United States Air Force from 1959 thru 1963.
He worked at General Electric and Genicom in Waynesboro, Virginia and Eastern Airlines in Miami, Florida. Leon and his father owned a machine shop, FMW Machine Works in Waynesboro, VA. When FMW was sold to Valley Precision, Inc. he continued to work for them. After retiring, he later started Leon's Mowing Service.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ethel ("Susie" McCutcheon) Henderson, his daughter, Cheri and her husband Scott Barker, his daughter by his first marriage, Tammy Wiech; grandson Dylan Wiech; granddaughter, Fawn Wiech; great-granddaughter, Althea Wiech.
He is survived by his sister, Wanda and husband Jack Caraway, one niece, two nephews and numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Charlotte Floyd.
A Family Night will be held on Thursday, March 5th from 5 to 7 pm at McDow Funeral Home, Inc. in Waynesboro.
A Graveside Service, presided by his son-in-law Scott Barker, will be held on Friday, March 6th at 2 pm at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Military Funeral Honors by the United States Air Force.
