Malcolm Dennis Cook, Jr., 87, of Crimora, VA went to be with his Lord and Saviour Wednesday morning, May 10, 2023 at his residence.

He was born October 14, 1935 in Yancey Mills, VA, a son of the late Malcolm Dennis Cook, Sr. and Gladys Marie (Blackwell) Cook.

He served his country faithfully with the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Mechanic.

Later, he worked for Crompton, Cole Toole Machine Shop, and retired after 29 years with Reynolds in Grottoes, VA.

Mr. Cook was a talented guitarist and songwriter. He loved to perform for his family and those who were in nursing homes. He also loved painting, the American Indians of many tribes, and the Blue Angels. He was a faithful member of Harriston Christian Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerald Nelson Cook; and sister, Nancy Shifflett.

Surviving are his loving wife of 68 years, Sylvia (Critzer) Cook; children, Linda (Cook) Fitzgerald, Dennis Paul Cook, Timothy Dean Cook and wife Tammy, Sherry Dameron and husband Timmy; brother, Robert Paul Cook and wife Judi; sisters, Alma Brinkley, Debbie Hemp and husband Timmy; 2 foster sisters, Doris and Shirley; numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and a very special aunt, Nellie Sandy; special neighbors, Marcie Comer, Wayne and Dianna Griffin; and special aide, Jessica Brown.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Sentara Hospice and Hospice of the Veterans Administration.

Family and friends will be received from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday, May 14, 2023 at McDow Funeral Home.
A service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 15, 2023, at McDow Funeral Home by Pastor Durwood Cowan. Interment will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be his family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters.
