Our beloved 'Nana' peacefully passed into her heavenly home on Saturday morning, March 22, 2025, as the sun was rising, surrounded by her family. She fought a brave and valiant fight, but when she grew too tired to keep going, she peacefully let go. Nana was a nurturing and loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she never missed an opportunity to express it.

Born into a large family of nine boys and five girls, she was the youngest daughter, third from the youngest, yet grew up in a small, nuclear family as her siblings had already left home. She cherished the time spent with her family.

Nana was born in Goshen, VA, to Moffett M. Potter and Mary Susan Welcher Potter on January 27, 1927. She married Paul G. Ward on April 9, 1947, and was predeceased by him in 1987. Together, they had one son, Paul G. Ward, Jr. (PG), who survives her. Nana is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathie, two grandsons: Steven Paul and his twins, Emily and Caroline, and Brent Corbin (Kathleen), along with their children, MacIntyre (the eldest) and Korrigan (the youngest) of the Grands; and also a loving niece, Barbie "Bobbie"(Greg) Gilbert.

A chapel service will be held at McDow Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Justin Moser, with interment at Augusta Memorial Park immediately following. Rev. Steven Henderson will provide A Cappella music during both services.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the First Baptist Church to support their youth ministry or to the Shenandoah Hospice House.
