Mark Edward
Lotts
Jul 29, 1957 — Feb 27, 2025
Stuarts Draft
Mark Edward Lotts, age 67, passed away Thursday February 27, 2025 in route to his earthly home. He was born July 29, 1957 in Waynesboro to the late Henry Hinkle Lotts and Edith Blanche Campbell Lotts. Mark was a 1975 graduate of Stuarts Draft High School. In 1977 he graduated from Blue Ridge Community College with an Associate of Science majoring in Business Administration. He was a 'Double Duke' of James Madison University earning his Bachelors of Business Administration in 1979 and Masters of Business Administration and Accounting and Finance/ Financial Management in 1993.
Mark was a diligent and driven individual early on, working at the Waynesboro Community Hospital in the kitchen while still in high school, initially to pay for his 1966 Mustang and then to continue to pay for his education at BRCC and JMU. It was at Waynesboro Community hospital that he met the love of his life, a nurse, Rosanna 'Rose' Marie Zimmerman. Mark and Rosanna were married on May 25, 1979 and shared an amazing 40 years 10 months and 25 days together.
He briefly worked at Radio Shack from 1979-1981 and returned to work at Waynesboro Community Hospital in a new role as the Pharmacy Business Manager/Corporate Buyer from 1981-1990. After the hospital merger Mark found a new journey in Augusta County Public Schools becoming the Director of Finance for Valley Vocational Technical Center from 1990-1997. He went 'across the road' to Central Office becoming Construction Administrator Assistant from 1997-2001 for ACPS and ultimately becoming the Executive Director of Finance and Business for ACPS in 2001. He served passionately for 25 years in his role and had recently announced his retirement for later in the year, December 2025.
Mark was known for his gracious big heart, humble compassionate spirit, and being a friend to everyone he met. He enjoyed giving back to his community whether serving on committees for White Hill Church of the Brethren, teaching finance classes at VVTC, being a guest speaker or interviewee on developing school budgets for administrative classes, and helping others pursue their administrative course work.
Mark was a dedicated husband and father first and foremost. He treasured his family, embracing every moment with them. He especially loved his role as Grandpa to his four-legged grandchildren Teddy Bear and Doodles. Mark was a railroad enthusiast and delighted in collecting insulators. He also enjoyed activities such as racquetball, basketball, softball, attending the gym, concerts, and walking the four legged children and grandchildren.
He is the loving and devoted father of Mark Edward Lotts II and Holly Ann Lotts. Mark is now reunited with his beloved Rose in their eternal heavenly home living out the best retirement one could ask and hope for from the Lord.
